Plaintiff prevails in Appellate Court case briefed by Colin Mahon

On February 14, 2012, the Connecticut Appellate Court decided the case of Sunset Gold Realty, LLC v. Premier Building & Development, Inc.  The case involved a real estate broker who was unfairly denied a commission by his client.  The broker sued to recover the commission from the client and the trial court ruled in his favor.  The client appealed the trial courtís decision and argued that no commission was due.  The brokerís trial attorney, Thomas Lonardo, then enlisted the assistance of attorney Colin Mahon to help draft the brief to the Appellate Court.  The Appellate Court ultimately ruled in favor of the broker and determined that the trial court had correctly decided the case.  The losing party later tried to appeal the case to the Connecticut Supreme Court, but after attorney Mahon helped draft a brief arguing that the Court should not get involved, the Court denied the request to appeal.
